Orangutans were well represented at this year’s Northeastern Evolutionary Primatologists (NEEP) meeting at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. The morning podium session on Foraging, Feeding and Nutrition featured two different Rutgers University researchers:
Wendy M. Erb: Wildfire smoke negatively impacts activity budgets and energy balance of wild Bornean orangutans (Pongo pygmaeus wurmbii).
Elizabeth F. Ballare: Cortisol variation in rehabilitated and released orangutans (Pongo pygmaeus wurmbii) in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia.
A small yet diverse conference, NEEP brought together students, professors, and researchers, highlighting the work of all — a testament to the innovation and diversity of Northeastern primatology.
